Egyptian-American star Rami Malek revealed the scenes behind his most famous role in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2019, confirming that the series Mr. Robot was the real reason behind this major shift in his artistic life.

During his participation in a dialogue session within the activities of the New York Comic Book Conference 2025, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the launch of the series Mr. Robot, Malik talked about his beginnings, saying: The producers saw me in Mr. Robot. Robot and they asked me to audition for Bohemian Rhapsod, and that show completely changed my life, and I have a lot of gratitude for it.
Rami Malek, 44 years old, explained that he learned a lot from the character of Elliot Alderson, who is obsessed with electronic hacking, which he presented in the famous series between 2015 and 2019, noting that his embodiment of that role helped him understand the human dimension of the character Freddie Mercury.
He added: Freddie always seemed like a bold personality on stage, but inside him there was a degree of introversion and shyness, and I was able to touch this side thanks to Elliot’s experience in Mr. Robot.
The Oscar-winning actor pointed out that his participation in the series opened the doors of Hollywood wide open for him, adding: I learned from the series the meaning of commitment and artistic honesty, and everything I built there was reflected in all my subsequent roles.
Rami Malek participated in the session with Sam Ismail, the creator of the work, and actor Christian Slater, where the trio talked about the scenes of filming and the difficulties they faced during the production of the series, which has become a landmark in modern American drama.
It is noteworthy that the movie Bohemian Rhapsody dealt with the biography of the late singing legend Freddie Mercury, leader of the band Queen, from his beginnings until his legendary performance at the Live Aid concert in 1985.
The film won four Oscars, including Best Actor for Rami Malek, and also won a Golden Globe for Best Drama.
