Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Library of Alexandria, confirmed that the Library places among its priorities the support of sound scientific publishing, and is keen that all its academic publications are subject to careful scientific arbitration and specialized linguistic review, in order to ensure the quality of the content and its value in developing human knowledge.

He explained: The Library of Alexandria has today become a global knowledge platform that combines heritage and modernity, and works to enhance the Egyptian and Arab academic presence in the international research arena.
This came after the inclusion of the global Scopus database, which is considered one of the largest and most important academic databases and scientific citations in the world, and which is affiliated with the international publishing house Elsevier, the “Abgadiyat” yearbook, issued by the Center for Graph Studies in the Academic Research Sector of the Library of Alexandria.
The library director noted that this inclusion represents the culmination of the efforts of the journal’s editorial team, which continued nearly two decades of serious research work, and adherence to internationally peer-reviewed academic publishing standards.
He added that these efforts come within the framework of the library’s policy aimed at making knowledge available to everyone and promoting open access to scientific production. The magazine makes its full research available on its website on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, to support researchers and scholars.
The committee praised the solid scientific research that the yearbook provides in the fields of ancient inscriptions and the history of language and writing in the world, stressing that its topics are of special importance to researchers in the fields of linguistic studies, ancient writings, and writing systems through the ages, through which the development of languages in the world over the ages can be understood.
It is worth noting that the “Abdiyat” yearbook is a peer-reviewed scientific journal issued by the Center for Script Studies, affiliated with the Academic Research Sector at the Library of Alexandria, since 2006, in cooperation with the international publishing house Brill. It specializes in publishing the latest studies and research on writings, calligraphy, and inscriptions in the world throughout the ages.
This achievement reflects the vision of the Library of Alexandria towards building bridges between the past and the present, and confirming its mission to be a global center for knowledge and research, and a permanent laboratory for developing the humanities, serving researchers and interested people around the world.
