A girl recounts horrific details about her exposure to marital violence: she was beaten, insulted, and accused of insanity
Manar claimed that she was beaten and verbally abused, and left for long periods alone, adding that many people justified her husband’s actions on the grounds that she was the reason or that her voice was loud.
She said that she was injured in the head as a result of a violent assault, but she was accused of causing it herself.
She added that she repeatedly tried to maintain the stability of her marital life for the sake of her son, stressing that she took the initiative to apologize and seek reconciliation despite the violence she faced, but in the end she was met with insults and neglect.
She pointed out that her husband, according to her, was sharing the details of their private lives with others, which increased her psychological suffering.
Manar criticized society’s view that always blames women, explaining that when she was defending herself and her dignity, some would describe her as impolite, asking: How do I act when I am assaulted? She confirmed that her husband and his family were, according to her claim, taunting her about her father’s illness and his inability to protect her.
Manar concluded her post by saying that she found only God as a refuge and support, stressing that her experience was painful, and considering that her story should be a warning bell for women who suffer from domestic violence in silence.
