Government hospitals participated in planting a number of trees in the Salmaniya Medical Complex, as part of the Tree Week activities, confirming their commitment to contributing to national initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and improving the quality of life.
This initiative comes in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, aimed at enhancing sustainability in various sectors of the Kingdom and encouraging the adoption of practical solutions to preserve natural resources.
On this occasion, Dr. Raja Al-Youssef, Executive Vice President of Government Hospitals, confirmed that this initiative is consistent with the efforts of government hospitals in supporting national programs concerned with environmental sustainability, through expanding tree planting, adopting creative solutions in the fields of modern irrigation, and making optimal use of treated water to irrigate green spaces within health facilities.
She added that celebrating Tree Week and planting trees in health facilities come in support of the afforestation plan that aims to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035, which contributes to confronting climate change and improving air quality and the urban environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Dr. Al-Yousef indicated that government hospitals continue to enhance their role in environmental projects that combine innovation and social responsibility, which contributes to achieving sustainable development goals and actively contributing to building a more sustainable future for the Kingdom.
