The Ministry of Education, Education and Technical Education, represented by the Central Administration of Public Education, Office of the Director General of Religious Education Development, announced the launch of the Holy Quran Memorization and Islamic Culture Competition for the 2025/2026 academic year, which targets school students at various educational levels across the Republic, as part of its interest in promoting religious and cultural values among students.
The competition aims to develop religious awareness, motivate students to memorize the Holy Book of God and understand its teachings, in addition to promoting moderate Islamic culture.
Contest levels
The competition is divided into three main levels. The first level is memorizing the entire Holy Qur’an with quality recitation and interpretation of parts eight, twenty-nine, and thirty, in addition to memorizing the complete hadiths of the book The Forty An-Nawawi. The second level is memorizing from Surat Al-Kahf up to Al-Nawawi, with an interpretation of the thirtieth part, and memorizing 20 hadiths from the Forty An-Nawawi. The third level is memorizing from Surat Al-Qasas up to Al-Nawawi, with an interpretation of the thirtieth part, and memorizing 10 prophetic hadiths.
Launching of the competition for memorizing the Holy Quran and Islamic culture
100 marks are allocated to each contestant, distributed as follows:
70 marks for the Holy Qur’an (60 for memorization + 10 for recitation and interpretation).
20 marks for the noble hadith.
10 degrees for Islamic culture.
The qualifiers are scheduled to be held at the level of educational directorates during the months of November and December 2025, with the winners’ lists and required papers being sent to the Ministry no later than January 10, 2026. The winners of the first three places at each level will be given appropriate financial prizes allocated from the budget of the educational departments, and they will be honored in an appropriate manner.
Controls for participation in the competition for memorizing the Holy Quran and Islamic culture
Only two students from each school are allowed to participate.
No student who has previously won the same level may participate.
It is required that the student not participate at a level higher than his level of study.
A copy of the automated birth certificate must be submitted along with a complete and approved data form.
The Ministry stressed the importance of schools’ commitment to implementing instructions and disseminating them widely to motivate students to participate, stressing that this initiative comes within the framework of building a generation that is aware of the values of its religion, loves its country, and is proud of its culture and identity.
