Clashes broke out between members of the Hamas movement and gunmen in the Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City on Sunday, resulting in the killing of a number of Palestinians, including social media activist Saleh Al-Jaafrawi.
Medical sources reported that “at least 8 Palestinians were killed during clashes that took place in the Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City, including the son of Hamas leader Basem Naim, in addition to Al-Jaafrawi, who is followed by millions on social media sites, following his coverage of the war in the Gaza Strip.”
Violent armed clashes broke out between members of Hamas and gunmen from the Daghmush family, in areas of the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood and the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south and west of Gaza City.
The clashes began two days ago, as a result of which two members of the military wing of the Hamas movement were killed. They later developed after Hamas security surrounded a residential square in which the Daghmush family resides, and demanded that they hand over a number of people.
Security sources indicated that a number of wanted people were arrested in the area of the clashes.
Palestinian citizens reported that they were unable to reach the areas of clashes south of Gaza City, as gunmen exchanged fire.
Since the ceasefire agreement was announced in the Gaza Strip, Hamas began deploying members of its security forces, pledging to “restore calm and order.”
