His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, directed the establishment of an innovation competition in irrigation solutions, with the aim of encouraging creative ideas and solutions that contribute to benefiting from surplus treated water, and enhancing the efficiency of its use in agriculture and afforestation, which contributes to the sustainability of resources and preserving the environment, and the expansion of irrigation networks, in order to achieve the goals of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al. Khalifa of the country’s great king, may God protect and preserve him. His Highness assigned all ministries and government agencies concerned with developing and implementing the regulatory mechanisms for the award and following up on its stages. This came when His Highness, may God protect him, planted a tree and watered the tree that His Highness kindly planted last year at Gudaibiya Palace, marking the start of this year’s Tree Week, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, and His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy. His Highness pointed out the great importance that Tree Week and other initiatives represent in consolidating the culture of preserving the environment and sustaining its resources, raising environmental awareness in society, and increasing green spaces in various regions of the Kingdom.
