The city of Huntington Beach, California, witnessed a shocking moment after a helicopter went out of control and crashed into the beachfront Hyatt Regency Hotel, according to local reports.
The footage that spread on social media showed the plane landing towards the street at around two o’clock in the afternoon, before suddenly falling on the hotel. Which led to the collapse of many palm trees at the site.
Huntington Beach Police said that the two people on board the helicopter were safely recovered from the wreckage, while three bystanders in the street were injured.
All five injured people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to ABC7.
The city confirmed that the helicopter was part of the annual Cars N’ Copters event held this week, noting that the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
