President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi decided to appoint Abdel-Sanad Yamama, head of the Wafd Party, as a member of the Senate.

Meanwhile, the Official Gazette published in its recently published issue President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s decision to appoint 100 members of the Senate.
Political sources had previously expected that the names of those appointed to the Senate would be announced within the next few days, before the issuance of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s decision regarding the appointment of 100 senators.
The sources also expected that the President of the Republic would issue an invitation to begin the first session of the second legislative term of the Senate at the beginning of next week, as the opening session will be held in the first days on Saturday or Sunday of next week.
The sources confirmed that, according to these expectations, the representatives appointed by a presidential decision will be received inside the Senate headquarters, before the new Senate is scheduled to convene, to complete the procedures for registering membership and obtaining cards.
Article 29 stipulates that the decision to appoint members of the Senate shall be published in the Official Gazette, and the appointed members shall have the same rights and duties as those assigned to the elected members of the Council.
