Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, affirmed his keenness to provide all possible support to develop the capabilities and skills of young men and women and coaches in the youth and sports sectors, as they are the basic pillar of building society, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, towards empowering youth and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Governor of Assiut explained that the Youth and Sports Directorate, led by Ahmed Suwaifi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, organized the “Kata and Kumite” karate tournament at the Youth Development Center in the city of Ghanayem, as part of the sports activity plan for the Vanguard sector for the month of October, with the participation of 62 male and female players from different age groups.
He pointed out that the participants were divided into groups according to their age group and belt level, and the competitions were conducted under the supervision of a specialized arbitration committee, resulting in 16 male and female players winning first and second places in the kata and kumite competitions.
The governor added that organizing the tournament comes within the framework of supporting sports activities and expanding the base of karate practitioners in the governorate, with the aim of developing the spirit of fair competition among players and refining their sports and physical skills, in addition to encouraging young people to practice sports as a means of building character and instilling the values of discipline and sportsmanship.
Major General Hisham Abu Al-Nasr stressed the continuation of cooperation and coordination between the Youth and Sports Directorate and all concerned parties in the governorate, to maximize the use of young human energies, and to support programs and projects that contribute to building the Egyptian person and enhancing his positive role in society.
