French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed, on Thursday, the agreement reached between Hamas and Israel to release the hostages and ceasefire in Gaza, stressing that France will continue its talks with international partners in an effort to reach a political solution to the war.

Macron said in a blog post on his official page on the “X” platform, “This agreement must represent an end to the war and the beginning of a political solution based on the two-state solution.”

He added that France is ready to contribute to achieving this goal, which we will discuss this afternoon in Paris with our international partners, referring to the meeting of foreign ministers from European and Arab countries in Paris to discuss the transitional phase in the Gaza Strip after reaching a solution to the conflict between Israel and the Hamas movement.

Macron called on the parties to strictly adhere to its provisions, stressing that the agreement sends great hope for the hostages and their families, the Palestinians in Gaza, and the region.

In the same context, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that we welcome US President Donald Trump’s announcement of reaching an agreement to stop the war in Gaza.

The Palestinian President added that we hope that the agreement constitutes a step towards a permanent political solution that leads to ending the occupation and establishing the State of Palestine.
