The Arabian Gulf University has achieved a new global achievement that is added to its record of success, by advancing in the “Times Higher Education” classification of world universities for the year 2026 for the second year in a row. This year, it joined the list of the best 20% of the world’s universities, after it achieved an advanced position in the classification category (401-500) out of 2,191 universities included in the classification, compared to the category (501-600) out of 2,092 universities that included It was there last year, confirming the continuation of its development process towards achieving its vision and strategic goals.
The Times Higher Education classification is considered one of the most prominent international classifications that rely on precise criteria to evaluate the performance of universities, as it is based on five main pillars that include: quality of education, scientific research environment, quality of published research, international openness, and industrial links. These are pillars that highlight the university’s ability to provide a distinguished educational experience, develop an advanced research environment, and openness to international cooperation, in addition to its effective contribution to innovation and economic development.
This achievement was reflected in the university’s reputation and position among international universities, as it was evaluated based on the extent of the excellence of the learning environment, the ratio of faculty members to students, the level of academic qualification, in addition to the availability of human and financial resources, the infrastructure supporting scientific research, the impact of published research, and the extent of international research cooperation. The university also demonstrated a high ability to transform knowledge into practical applications through its partnerships with the industrial sector, which strengthened its position as a leading institution in innovation.
The President of the Arabian Gulf University, Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid: The university’s progress in international rankings is the result of an ambitious institutional journey that was based on academic and research excellence, and was keen on providing innovative educational programs in advanced specializations, and employing high-level educational and research capabilities, in addition to building a solid international reputation through effective partnerships with prestigious universities around the world.

For his part, the supervisor of the Academic Accreditation Unit at the Quality and Excellence Center at the Arabian Gulf University, Dr. Adel Kamal said that the university’s obtaining this advanced position at the level of higher education institutions came as a result of the successive achievements made by the university, which transformed it from a university with a regional classification into a trustworthy global university, especially after it expanded the scope of its academic influence with its giving and played a pioneering role in graduating trained personnel in accordance with international standards, which strengthened its ability to maintain a leading position in a competing global classification. Thousands of universities and educational institutions around the world are included in its list, thanks to their keenness to develop academic programs and scientific research in a sustainable manner, in accordance with the requirements of the global market and the strategic development goals of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
It is noteworthy that the Arabian Gulf University is the first educational institution in the Kingdom of Bahrain to enter the “Times Higher Education” classification of international universities, and it ranked first locally in the general classification for the year 2026, in an achievement that reflects the quality of education and scientific research it provides, establishes the confidence of international institutions in its programs and graduates, and contributes to consolidating its position with local, regional and international bodies.
