The city of Shebin El-Kom in Menoufia Governorate witnessed a strange incident, after a man residing in the Bagour center and a woman residing in Shebin El-Kom attempted to forcibly rob and kill a young man in a mobile phone store inside the store, despite the presence of surveillance cameras monitoring all movements.

The investigations of the Shebin El-Kom Police Department in Menoufia arrested the defendants after a video clip of the incident was circulated on social media, despite the store owner not submitting an official report to the Security Directorate, citing the fact that he was not injured or that an actual theft had occurred.
Initial investigations revealed that the first accused was from the Al-Bajour Center and had an emotional relationship with the second accused. They agreed to carry out the incident so that the first accused would start a quarrel with the young man while the second would carry out the theft. Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident was their first, and it occurred because they were going through financial hardship.
The security force at the Shebin El-Kom Police Department wrote a report on the incident, and the investigating authorities were notified, who ordered their detention pending investigations.
The details of the incident go back to the circulation of a video clip recorded by a surveillance camera inside the store, which showed the defendants’ attempt to ignore the owner of the mobile phone store, claiming to buy some supplies.
The accused asked the young man to send an amount of 40 thousand pounds “cash” to his electronic wallet, to ensure that he had the amount in his possession, then he covered him with a cloth, trying to strangle him and push him inside the store out of sight, but the victim resisted him until he failed to carry out his crime, and fled while someone entered the place.
A source confirmed that the video was examined to confirm its circumstances and determine the identity of the accused, as part of the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to interact with all reports and videos circulated on social media sites.
