Former French Prime Minister Edward Philip said that Emmanuel Macron should announce early elections with the exacerbation of the political crisis in France.

Claims of the president to announce early elections after the departure of the Prime Minister

Edward Philip, one of the candidates to succeed Macron, indicated that the situation is sad amid recent efforts to obtain support from various parties to the Council of Ministers that he prefers to hold early presidential elections due to the seriousness of the political crisis that shakes the country.

France and the political crisis

Philip’s comments, one of the most prominent candidates from the right of the center to succeed Macron, came at a time when the outgoing Prime Minister Sebastian Lecorno began a recent effort to mobilize support from various parties to form a government to get France out of its worsening political predicament.

Philip told RTL radio that he does not call for the immediate resignation of Macron, but the president must “announce that he is organizing early presidential elections” once the budget of next year is adopted.

He stressed: “The time is the essence of the matter, we will not prolong what we have seen during the past six months. Another 18 -month period is a very long period and it is harmful to France that the political game that we play today is painful.”

The French Prime Minister submits his resignation 14 hours after the announcement of the formation of his government

Earlier, the new French Prime Minister Sebastian Lucurno submitted his resignation on Monday, after only 14 hours of announcing the formation of his government, following the threat of his allies and opponents to drop it, which led to a sharp decline in the shares of the French Stock Exchange and the low value of the euro.

The resignation of the Prime Minister of France

Lucurno’s rapid resignation came suddenly and unprecedented, to deepen the political crisis in France, and called on the extremist right -wing National Rally Party, President Emmanuel Macron, to call for early parliamentary elections, according to the French newspaper Lovigaru.

After weeks of consultations with the various political forces, Lukurno – a ally of Macron – announced the formation of his government on Sunday, and was scheduled to hold its first meeting on Monday afternoon. However, the new ministerial squad sparked the anger of the opposition and a number of allies within the ruling coalition, as some considered it too much conservative, while others saw that it did not tend to right enough, which raised questions about its ability to continue, in the shadow of a divided parliament in which no party has a clear majority.

The French presidency stated that Lucurno submitted his government’s resignation to President Macron, who officially accepted it.
