In 2012, Fadel Shaker announced his retirement from singing and joining the Sheikh Ahmed Al -Asir group, known for its attitudes opposing Hezbollah and Bashar al -Assad.

In June 2013, the Battle of Abra broke out between the Lebanese army and the prisoners of the captive, and resulted in the killing of a number of soldiers.

Although Shaker denied his direct involvement in the fighting at the time, he was considered a collaborator with the armed group, which prompted him to flee to Ain El -Hilweh camp.

In 2017, the Lebanese Military Court issued a 15 -year prison sentence against Fadel Shaker for participating in terrorist acts. In 2020, the court issued two other rulings in absentia on charges of “interfering in terrorism” against the background of supporting Islamic militant groups who participated in battles against the Lebanese army.

Despite these provisions, Shaker remained hidden in the camp, as he was facing death threats from militant Islamic groups demanding his artistic activity.

In July 2025, reports of Fadel Shaker’s intention to surrender to the Lebanese authorities began, which was later confirmed in a press release. In October of the same year, he handed himself at a Lebanese army checkpoint near Sidon, coming from Ain El -Hilweh camp. He was transferred to the barracks of Mohamed Zogheib in Sidon, in preparation for his transfer to Yarzeh to appear before the Military Court.
