Major General Mohamed Mahmoud, Advisor to the Governor of Suez, confirmed that the fishing competition is one of the most prominent major events within the first fish hunting festival organized by the Suez Governorate during the period from 13 to 17 October.

He added in statements to “Cairo 24” that the festival program includes an exhibition for selling fish at reduced prices to the public, along with a carnival marathon that includes sports, show, lyrical, recreational and water shows, in addition to championships in beach sports, daily technical paragraphs, as well as activities to teach children fishing skills, handicrafts and drawing, along with awareness seminars, cultural activities and cleaning campaigns To beaches.
He explained that the fishing competition will start from the Port of Atka during the period from 13 to 15 October under the supervision of the Egyptian Federation for Fishing Sports, noting that the goal of organizing it is to spread and stimulate the sport of fishing in the governorate, and enhance the concept of sportsmanship, in addition to expanding the base of collective practice, and contributing to attracting and stimulating sports tourism in Suez Governorate.
He pointed out that fishing methods allowed in the competition include fishing with traction, gigging, casting and fallen, with the application of all the rules of the International Federation and the Egyptian Federation for Fish Hunting and the International Organization for Fishing Sports IGFA.
He pointed out that the tournament allows the participation of only men’s teams or women’s teams only or young teams under 21 years, as well as mixed teams, explaining that additional promotional points will be given to women’s and junior teams, including granting 3 additional points for women’s teams, 5 points for junior teams under 21 years, and 2 additional points for any team that includes an young or 16 -year -old emerging.
He stressed that the rules of the competition prevent hunting in coral reef areas or targeting their associated fish, and determines a safe distance for hunting of not less than 200 meters from the edge of the reefs, and it is prohibited to use violating fishing tools such as nets, fugitives or lightnings, while adhering to the use of inch, machine and industrial baptism only.
He added that all the fish are displayed in the video from the beginning of the fishing process to the output of the fish to ensure its calculation, with each team’s commitment to provide the necessary taste and snow, while the governorate provides an outlet to sell ice inside the marina.
Major General Mohamed Mahmoud concluded his statements, stressing that through this festival, Suez Governorate seeks to present an integrated event that combines sports, entertainment and tourism, in a manner befitting the status of Suez and its maritime history.
