The Ministry of Works revealed the start of work on a number of urgent projects to alleviate traffic congestion, within the third and fourth packages of the road network development program in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which covers all governorates, and aims to address the most prominent traffic jams in the vital streets.

The Ministry stated through its official website that the third package includes two main projects, namely:

• Add a third path in each direction from Al -Mahzoura Street in the part -limited part between Umm Al -Naasan Street, and its intersection with 37 Street.

• Developing the intersection of Sheikh Jaber Al -Sabah Street with 1 Street, which leads to Umm Al -Saad Street.

The fourth package includes four projects:

1. Development of 77 Street, between 47 Street and 4566 Road in Sanad.

2. Developing the Bahraini Youth Street in the educational area.

3. Development of Al -Mahzoura Street, “The Part Inside between the 3933 Road and the Istiklal Street” in Riffa.

4. Development of Street 20 intersection with the 2651 road in Busaetin.

The Ministry emphasized that these urgent projects come in response to the daily needs of citizens and residents, and seek to address the crowds in some of the most crowded streets and intersections, noting that these initiatives are part of a more comprehensive plan for the major strategic road network projects, which include the establishment of bridges, tunnels and expansion of the main streets, which are projects that range between two to five years.

She added that this strategic traffic plan aims to create a qualitative shift in the structure of the roads in order to accommodate urban expansion, increase the number of vehicles, and provide radical solutions to the problem of congestion, in addition to raising the efficiency of networks, improving the level of performance and achieving traffic safety standards, as well as achieving integration with housing and investment projects in various regions of the Kingdom.
