Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadiq, President of Cairo University, held a press conference for the official announcement of the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence 2025 Nexus Ai-Cu, held by the university on 18 and 19 October, which is considered a pivotal national platform that brings together the governmental and industrial sectors, the academic circles and the entrepreneurial system, to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies in the vital sectors, and contribute to building a knowledge-based economy, and from In order to enhance the leadership of Egypt and Cairo University in this vital field at the regional level.
The President of Cairo University reviewed in his meeting with the Grand Celebration Hall with journalists and media professionals, the axes of the conference, its goals, and the participating bodies, in addition to the accompanying events, led by the innovation square and the student Hakathon.
During his speech at the press conference, Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq pointed out that a year has passed since the launch of the Cairo University strategy for artificial intelligence, which is the first university strategy of its kind in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East, and is based on four main axes: the development of education and knowledge production, stimulating scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship, spreading societal awareness, and developing administrative capabilities within the university, stressing that the university’s strategy is For artificial intelligence, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, the national strategy for artificial intelligence launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research launched by Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in March 2023.
The President of Cairo University added that the university launched the first edition of the policy of responsible use of artificial intelligence for all its employees, and the digital platform of Cairo University was inaugurated in this field, the application of the artificial intelligence course as a graduation requirement for university students, the organization of many workshops, conferences and seminars, and the creation of a prize for the best scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence, and the organization of the first international conference of artificial intelligence, pointing to the formation of a number of committees To prepare for the conference with the aim of accelerating the pace of adopting artificial intelligence in various sectors of the state, and building a knowledge economy in Egypt to achieve leadership for Egypt and Cairo University in the field of artificial intelligence at the regional level and keeping pace with global developments in this file.

Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq, the basic pillars of the conference, including the organization of dialogue sessions that speak on strategic topics of importance within the Egyptian state, whether in the university’s major hall or open theater or through the halls of some colleges such as arts and rights, pointing to the presence of more than 32 dialogue sessions with the participation of a number of ministers, senior state officials and representatives of international bodies, in addition to the sessions that will be organized and managed by some colleges the university.
The President of Cairo University pointed out that an exhibition will be organized on technology activities and what startups offered in this file, the innovators of the future and the Grand Hakathon competition that took place inside Cairo University to receive distinguished projects in the field of artificial intelligence, where 98 projects prepared by student teams were submitted, and the projects were liquidated after being evaluated to 26 distinguished projects and valuable prizes will be awarded to the projects winners, in addition to the use of these projects within the Cairo University Company for Management and Investment The moral assets that were launched in January 2025 as the first company in the history of Cairo University to be launched to benefit from the outputs of research and distinguished student projects to participate with the industrial sector to serve the community and achieve an economic value added to the Egyptian state, and this is the role of universities as the powers of the national economy.
Mohamed Sami Abdel -Sadiq stressed that a comprehensive policy document has been prepared to come out with the opportunities and challenges that will be used during the coming period, to develop scientific research, entrepreneurship, and moral aspects of the uses of artificial intelligence, noting that the conference will witness the participation of international bodies, including UNESCO, the United Nations Development Program UNDP, the World Health Organization WHO and Google Jinmae, in addition to the participation of prestigious personalities in the areas of artificial intelligence, experts in institutional sustainability, and scientists from a number of international universities, pointing to the activation of the recommendations of the Artificial Intelligence Conference with the participation of the state, ministries and bodies to work on their implementation.
