Egypt and Pakistan are looking to enhance cooperation in combating C virus and applying comprehensive health insurance

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, met with the Pakistani Minister of Health, on the sidelines of the sixth global ministerial summit for mental health, held in the Qatari capital, Doha.

During the meeting, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar affirmed the depth of historical relations between Egypt and Pakistan, pointing to the internationally witnessed Egyptian successes in combating the C virus and implementing the comprehensive health insurance system.

He expressed Egypt’s readiness to transfer its expertise to Pakistan through training programs and exchange of specialized delegations to build capacity, stressing that health cooperation between the two countries enhances regional health security and supports the achievement of sustainable development goals.

For his part, the Pakistani minister praised the leading Egyptian experience in eliminating the C virus, expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s continuous support by providing medicines and receiving Pakistani delegations to exchange experiences.

He stressed that the C virus represents a major health challenge in Pakistan, and that the Egyptian achievements constitute an inspiring model for reforming the Pakistani health system, as well as the Egyptian progress in the application of comprehensive health insurance, expressing his country’s aspiration to benefit from this experience.

The two sides agreed to enhance coordination by organizing mutual visits and specialized training programs, with the aim of transferring Egyptian expertise in the fields of public health, preventive programs, and comprehensive health insurance, and confirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation to support health systems in the two countries, in a way that contributes to facing regional and global health challenges.
