In implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him, regarding the expansion of afforestation in the various governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain within the afforestation plan, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, in the presence of a number of His Excellency Ministers and senior officials, instilled the 14,000 tree, to celebrate the end of the afforestation work on Muharraq Ring Street.
On this occasion, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stressed that the afforestation initiatives adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him, embody a comprehensive national vision aimed at enhancing environmental security, achieving balance between the requirements of economic development and the protection of natural resources, To achieve adherence to the carbon neutrality by 2060.
His Excellency said: “Our visit to Muharraq this day comes in light of the interest and royal attention that this ancient city receives from the presence of His Majesty the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, as royal directives regarding the speed of implementing housing projects in the city of Muharraq and keeping pace with this by securing services and infrastructure, mitigating the crowds and the flow of the movement for the families and visitors, the framework supporting the various development projects that The governorate is witnessing, including afforestation and beautification of the main roads and streets. “
He indicated in this context that Al -Muharraq Ring Street, which is one of the latest and largest road projects in the Kingdom, and that the completion of the afforestation works in it comes to embody this trend by integrating sustainable environmental standards in major projects, which contributes to improving the quality of life, and makes these projects advanced models that take into account the environmental dimension along with their service role in facilitating traffic.
In a related development, His Excellency praised the efforts made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and his tireless follow -up to the paths of implementing environmental plans and initiatives that are in achieving the desired sustainability and preserving natural resources.
He also pointed out that the remarkable progress made by the afforestation plan from its launch in 2022 to the present day confirms the government’s intention to reach the goal of cultivating 3.6 million trees by 2035, to ensure the sustainability of vegetation, maximizing the positive environmental impact in terms of improving air quality, enhancing biological diversity, as well as upgrading the aesthetic streets and main roads in the Kingdom.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, and for the team of the project of afforestation of Muharraq Ring Street, and to all the concerned authorities for its coordination roles and continuous cooperation that contributed to the completion of this project and other afforestation projects under the plan, stressing that this integration reflects the spirit of the one Bahrain team to achieve the strategic goals that are in the interest of the country and citizens.
For his part, Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister for his preference for implanting the last tree within the work of the afforestation of Muharraq Ring Street, stressing that this generous gesture embodies the special care of His Excellency with the afforestation initiatives and continuous support for environmental sustainability programs.
He also noted the follow -up of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure headed by His Excellency for the progress made in implementing the afforestation plan, and its role in enhancing the efficiency of coordination between the relevant authorities to ensure the achievement of the goals set according to the highest standards.
This, and the project of afforestation of Muharraq Ring Street constitutes about 9% of the total goal of this year within the afforestation plan, which is estimated to grow more than 183 thousand trees. The trees planted in the vicinity of the project depend on the treated water, where a 22 -km irrigation network has been extended and a pumping card of 120 cubic meters per hour. The trees planted within the project are in the Hipsx Telasus, Nim, Roll, Bonnsiana, and Albisa Bakh, which are in nature to the climatic conditions of the local environment.
