The extraordinary general conference of the National Hama Party started to choose the party leader.
Sources revealed to Cairo 24 that Lieutenant -General Mohamed Abbas Helmy, former Minister of Civil Aviation and the former commander of the Air Force, and Dr. Ashraf Al -Shehhi, former Minister of Higher Education, will run elections for the presidency of the Hama Al Watan Party.
Representative Ahmed Bahaa Shalaby, head of the parliamentary body of the Hama Al -Watan Party, stressed that the criterion of the financial solvency is not essential in the selection process, but it may be taken into consideration within other factors related to the candidate’s ability to manage his campaign, noting that the party bears the support of some of its candidates who do not have great financial capabilities.

“We have a mixture of cadres within the party, between businessmen, academics and youth, and this reflects that we do not rely on political money but rather on diversity and balance, in a way that achieves a real representation of society.”
