Car sales in Europe increased by 5% during the past month

Shipping hybrid cars witnessed a particularly strong momentum, as their records rose to 83,900 cars in August, an increase of 59% over the previous year, raising their market share to 10.6%.

According to Gato Dynamix numbers, Bevs’s electric cars also made gains, an increase of 27% compared to August 2024, giving them a standard market share of 20.2%, an increase of 3.6% on an annual basis.

Thus, total electric car recordings in Europe in 2025 reach 1.54 million so far, however, analysts warn that the main growth numbers of electric cars that work with batteries may not reflect the full image.

For his part, Felipe Monoz, global analyst at Gato Dynamics, said: The data shows a strong demand for electric cars that run in batteries in August, but an increase of 27% is less important than it appears when looking at the extent of its spread throughout Europe.

Monoz added: The new standard market share of electric cars, which was partially achieved, was affected by the fact that Italy, which is usually less enthusiastic to adopt electric cars that run in batteries, is usually quiet during August.
