The head of the electronic crimes prosecutor stated that the Public Prosecution has received a report from the Department of Electronic Crime Control, stating that a video clip on a social networking site was monitored in which a woman claims to communicate with one of the girls with her regarding the exploitation of one of the officials in a government agency, his position in harassing girls applying for employment or obtaining job grades in that entity, and that the girl was among his victims.
Then the Public Prosecution began its investigations to memorize the truth, so she initiated the question of the owner of the clip, as she initially claimed that this novel was transferred to her by an unknown girl, then changed her novel and claimed the presence of an employee who is familiar with this matter and that this employee was subjected to the same incident.
Accordingly, the prosecutor summoned the employee referred to, and informed the validity of what the accused, the owner of the clip, stated, stressing that the incident that was attributed to her is fabricated and has no basis for reality, adding that the accused has revenge motives.
Hence, the accused was directed in the investigations with the statements of the employee, as well as the results of the police investigations that confirmed the incorrectness of the incident, and that the incorrect news published by the accused would destabilize the confidence of citizens in government agencies, so the accused acknowledged that the story was already fabricated and inspired by its imagination.
Accordingly, the prosecution ordered that she be imprisoned for a precaution pending the investigation after she was charged with broadcasting false news and abuse of social media.
In this regard, the prosecutor affirmed that the Public Prosecution will not tolerate the taking of legal measures with all those who exploit social media to spread false news or promote incorrect allegations that would prejudice people or confidence in government agencies.
