The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Fund for Development, and the State of Qatar represented by the Qatar Development Fund, announced the provision of joint financial support with a total value of $ 89 million, to contribute to supporting workers in the public sector in Syria for a period of three months; To ensure the continued provision of basic services to the Syrian people and the enhancement of budget allocations, on the sidelines of the eighties of the United Nations General Assembly, at the headquarters of the United Nations Development Program in New York.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), joint financial support aims to enhance sustainable opportunities and ways of sustainable economic recovery, in coordination with the United Nations Development Program to implement the support project and enhance sustainability efforts, strengthen systems and comprehend the financial sector, and seek to reach sustainable development in Syria.
In an interview with the “United Nations News” website after the signing of the agreement, Abdullah Al -Dardari, Director of the Regional Office of the Arab States of the United Nations Development Program, described this agreement as a “precedent”, indicating that this tripartite cooperation between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Qatar Development Fund with the United Nations Development Program aims to support recovery and social and economic stability after long years of conflict and suffering.
He pointed out that the United Nations is currently the framework of sustainable development in Syria, which will include all sectors of the United Nations work with all its organizations in Syria, and are not residing in Syria.
