Hebrew sources revealed today, Thursday, that the military censorship allowed the publication of the news of the killing of an Israeli soldier from the “Nahhal” brigade in the battles of Gaza City, as part of the “Gideon 2 vehicles” operation.
The Israeli Army Radio reported the killing of a soldier with the rank of first sergeant named Chawalchu Shimon Dammalash, who is 21 years old, and is from the city of “Beersheba” in southern Israel.
Sergeant First Demalsh, in the ranks of the forces under the battalion (932) of the “Nahhal” brigade, participating in the war on the “Hamas” movement in the Gaza Strip, according to the Army Radio.
Dalmash was doing the duty of guarding at a site immune to the Israeli Defense Army on the outskirts of the “Sheikh Radwan” neighborhood, north of Gaza City, when a sniper of “Hamas” fired at him and killed him.
The Army Radio indicated that other Israeli army soldiers were stationed at the site, in cooperation with the Israeli Air Force, carried out wide search operations for the sniper, to no avail.
Remote sniping
For his part, Doron Kadouf said the Israeli army radio correspondent that “yesterday evening, about five o’clock, was one of the 932 battalion soldiers from the Nahhal Brigade stationed at a guard point at a military site on the outskirts of Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City.”
He added: “While he was on the site, a sniper of Hamas fired a precise bullet that hit him directly, and led to his death, from a distance without any attempt to approach or storm the point.”
He pointed out that “immediately after the accident, the forces stationed on the site began combing operations in the area, supported by fire from the air in an attempt to track down the quota and target it, and until the moment, it was not announced that the perpetrator was neutralized.”
The Israeli army announced that after the killing of Damascus, the number of Israeli soldiers killed during the war on Gaza increased to 912.
