Ambassador Khaled Youssef Al -Jalahmah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, met with Mrs. Claudia Banz, Director of the Security Council Affairs Department of the United Nations Organization, on the sidelines of the high -level week of the eighties of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, Ambassador Khaled Youssef Al -Jalahmah expressed the appreciation of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the role played by the Security Council Affairs Department in supporting the members of the Council, stressing the Kingdom’s commitment to contributing to the tasks of the Council aimed at strengthening international peace and security.
The ways of enhancing cooperation with the United Nations in the field of training and capacity building were also discussed within the ongoing preparations for the Kingdom’s membership period in the Council for the period 2026-2027, in order to enhance the effectiveness of Bahraini participation and strengthen its role in supporting the council’s efforts, in addition to highlighting the priorities of the Kingdom of Bahrain during its next membership period in the Security Council, which includes strengthening peace and stability through dialogue and a culture of coexistence, commitment to international law and humanitarian work, and addressing threats Traditional and young security, including terrorism and extremism, as well as cybersecurity, climate change, maritime security, and ensuring effective integration and participation of women and youth.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Hatem Abdel Hamid Hatem, Head of Organizations Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
