The Capital Secretariat Council discussed during its meeting yesterday, a proposal to allocate pink parking for women, and the provider of member Wafaa Ajour, which aims to provide a safer and convenient environment for women in public facilities and shopping complexes, and decided to return the proposal to the competent committee for further study and amendment.
Member, Maitham Al -Hayki, stressed that the allocation of these positions may cause major problems in light of the scarcity of the positions available in the capital, indicating that Bahrain is a safe country, and there is no urgent need for this type of allocation, especially if it is mandatory for government agencies or hospitals, indicating that the decision would increase the severity of the position of positions.
In turn, the Vice -President of the Council, Kholoud Al -Qattan, indicated that the proposal may be understood as a detracting from the woman, explaining that allocating a position for her in this way may be explained as a derivation, not as a privilege.
For its part, Hoda Sultan stressed that the proposal can be studied deeper by identifying certain groups to benefit from this service such as pregnant or old women, provided that the service is optional and not imposed on the owners of the establishments.
For his part, Muhammad Al Tawfiq stated that it is appropriate to withdraw the proposal at the present time and return it to the competent committee for further study and research, in a way that ensures the treatment of the notes raised by the members.
At the end of the discussion, the council agreed to return the proposal to the technical committee to make the necessary amendments and study its dimensions more comprehensive before re -presented it to the council.
