The Vice President of Brazil announced today, Wednesday, the killing of four people, including the architect and the prominent Chinese Urban Planning expert Yo Kong Jian, as a result of a small plane crash in Brazil.
According to the “German News Agency”, firefighters reported that the accident occurred, on Tuesday evening, while the plane was trying to land on a large farm located about 100 km from the municipality of Akidwana in the state of Mato Grosso de Sol.
There was no immediate information about the cause of the plane crash.
Yo Kong Jian created the idea of ”sponge cities”, which aims to alleviate the effects of climate change by using “green infrastructure” to create storm -resistant cities.
Kong Jian considered that by creating large areas of water detention in city centers, such as parks and ponds, heavy rains can be absorbed, which helps prevent floods.
Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alkain, in a post on the X platform, said that Yo Kong Jian was famous for his “prominent contributions to sustainable urbanization, preserving biological diversity, and protecting the planet Earth,” adding that Yu’s legacy will continue to inspire those who devote their efforts to the issue of environmental preservation.
Yo Kong Jian established the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Beijing University, one of the most prestigious universities in China.
Alkainin reported that film directors Luis Fernando Ferris Da are Firz and Robins Crespim Junior, and the driver of the plane Marcelo Peria de Barros also died in the accident.
