London mayor Sadiq Khan, US President Donald Trump, described as “racist” and “hostile to Muslims”, on Wednesday, after the latter hinted that the British politician is seeking to implement Sharia in the United Kingdom capital.
Khan, who belongs to the Labor Party (a center left), entered into a debate with Republican Trump during the past years, knowing that the roots of the last dispute are due to statements made by the US President at the United Nations, on Tuesday.
According to the “French Press Agency”, Khan told Sky News: “I think Trump has shown that he is racist and sexually biased and hated women and hostile to Muslims.”
“See London, where you have a very bad municipality,” Trump said during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. It changed, changed a lot. ”
He added, “They now want the application of Sharia. But in a different country, you cannot do this. ”
British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer, who also has been stripped of the Labor Party, sought to maintain a friendly relationship with Trump, including by receiving an unprecedented second state visit last week.
Khan pointed out that London is ranked first in many indicators, such as foreign investments, adding that it is “very proud because we are the greatest city in the world.”
Earlier, on Wednesday, the government minister, Pat McFaden, said that Trump was “offering the interpretation” of London.
Khan, a Muslim, has been the position of London mayor since 2016. That year, Trump, who was a candidate for the presidency, was criticized for the background of his proposal to prevent the citizens of some Muslim -majority countries entering the United States.
Before visiting Trump’s first country in 2019, Khan likened him to “the dictators who ruled in Europe in the thirties and forties of the last century.”
For his part, Trump described the London mayor as “failed” and challenged him to undergo a test of intelligence rate.
“I think I have gained the rights of those who are the ownership in exchange for the amount of time I spent in the mind of Donald Trump … I hope he will not send me a bill for all the time I spent there,” Khan told ITV London, on Wednesday.
