The Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by His Excellency Professor Lulwa Saleh Al -Awadi, Secretary -General of the Supreme Council for Women, participated in the high -level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing 30+), which was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, under the title “Re -adherence to the Bayen’s advertisement and curriculum, and the provision of resources necessary to implement it, and accelerate the pace of its enforcement in order to achieve gender equality and empowerment All women and girls. “

The high -level meeting witnessed data from the United Nations member states, members of specialized agencies, international organizations and government agencies that have an observer status at the General Assembly.

His Excellency Professor Al -Awadi delivered the speech of the Kingdom of Bahrain during the meeting, in which she stressed the importance of this high -level meeting, which comes to emphasize the commitment to the advertisement and curriculum of Begin’s work and accelerate the pace of his enforcement in order to achieve gender equality and enable all women and girls around the world.

Al -Awadi emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain and in implementation of the national strategy for the advancement of Bahraini women adopted by His Majesty the King in 2005, and its national plans and international obligations have made advanced strides in terms of strengthening the women’s center, the essence of the implementation of the national gender balance model, which is an official commitment in accordance with the government program and the establishment of permanent committees to equal opportunities until today (63) committees in all ministries and institutions of public sector, And (25) committee in the private sector as executive mechanisms to empower women in the field of decision -making.

She added that the Kingdom of Bahrain, and in an obligation to a Begin’s work plan after 30 years, presented two initiatives to the United Nations Women’s Authority/ are being implemented at the first national level, the implementation of a program to enable women to enter the membership of the boards of directors of public joint stock companies, after the success of the political empowerment program for women, which was implemented in 2002 in cooperation with the UNDP and contributed to the strengthening of the Bahraini women’s center where there are six ministers and women headed the House of Representatives with a free and direct election and the percentage of women in jobs reached Executive in the government sector (50%) and in the private sector (36%).

Al -Awadi indicated that the second initiative is to cooperate with an academic training institute to implement a program entitled “Balance” within the mandatory training plan in the national program to develop government leaders and enhance awareness of the roles of equal opportunities committees and their competencies and consolidate the concepts of gender balance in government agencies.

Al -Awadi affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain believes that achieving the major goals that countries seek to empower women are only with serious national action and through cooperation and coordination between countries to achieve the slogan of the 88th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Secretary -General of the Supreme Council for Women also invited all the countries participating in the third session of the Royal Highness Princess Princess Princess Bint Ibrahim Al -Khalifa Al -Alamiah to empower women adopted by the United Nations Women and opened the door for registration.

In conclusion, Al -Awadi said, “Given the difficult circumstances that women are experiencing in the world, especially in the Middle East, we hope that women in all countries of the world will enjoy security and peace as a key to their human rights approved by the Declaration of Human Rights and the Charter of the United Nations, so there is no empowerment or security in light of wars.”
