Dakahlia Governorate is preparing early this year for the rice harvest season, as part of its plan to face the phenomenon of rice straw burning, which causes the appearance of the black cloud annually, as a specialized committee was assigned to follow up the straw collection sites and ensure the commitment to legal procedures.

During a field follow -up in the Dikirnis Center and City, large quantities of rice straw were monitored, which included about 7.5 tons on an area of 1.33 acres in the area of the seven – Hamada – the facility of Abdul Rahman, and approximately 123 tons on one acre area in the same aspect, in addition to about 130 tons on the Genenine Road – the seven. The committee has stressed those in charge of these sites the speedy completion of the licenses, while emphasizing that any violation will be met with the confiscation of straw and taking the necessary legal measures.
These efforts are part of an integrated plan developed by the governorate to transform rice straw from an environmental problem to an economic resource, by benefiting from it in the feed and fertilizer industries, in a way that contributes to preserving the environment and reducing pollution, and the plan also includes intensifying awareness campaigns for farmers and encouraging them to benefit from straw instead of burning it, while continuing daily control over assembly sites to reduce any violations.
Thus, Dakahlia Governorate seeks to gradually end the phenomenon of the black cloud, and to turn the rice season from an environmental burden into an opportunity for economic development and benefit.
