An economic report issued by the “Mordour Intelligence” website confirmed that the size of the telecommunications market in Bahrain amounted to about 1.30 billion dollars in 2025, with expectations that it will reach $ 1.53 billion in 2030. He noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain ranked first in the Arab region for several consecutive years, according to the Information and Communications Technology Development Index for the International Telecommunication Union, and is still a regionally leader in the field of information and communications technology, and provides services In addition, it is the first country in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to cancel the organizational restrictions of the communications sector, and to adopt a plan to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2060. Such government initiatives will provide new growth opportunities for the information and communications technology market in the country.
The report expected that the compound annual growth rate of 3.39% during the period 2025-2030, and in terms of the number of subscribers, the market is expected to grow from 3.93 million subscribers in 2025 to 4.63 million subscribers by 2030, with an annual growth rate of 3.33% during the aforementioned period.
Expectations show an emerging environment, where the growth of subscribers stabilizes, but the value of the communication rises, supported by the deployment of the 5G technology on a large scale in the Kingdom, the spread of optical fibers, and the studied trend towards distinguished digital services.
The operators also direct the largest part of their capital expenses, which exceeded $ 250 million for 2023, to the redistribution of the spectrum and cloud computing, as government agencies are obligated to transfer 30% of their work burdens to cloud platforms, contributing to the frequent demand for data centers, while expanding the revenues of information technology and communications processing to more than just communication.
In terms of the type of service, the data and the Internet acquired 47.01% of the share of the mobile phone operators market in Bahrain in 2024. It is expected that the Internet of Things and communications between devices will expand with an annual growth rate of 3.48% until 2030. In terms of the end user, the consumer sector acquires a share of revenues of 78.69% in 2024, while the sector is scheduled to grow Institutions with an annual growth rate of 3.86% until 2030.
The report pointed to a tremendous rise in the fifth generation data movement in the country, and the average download speed increased to 23.4 Mbps in the second quarter of 2024. The optical fiber network from “BNET” reaches 95% of homes and 99% of companies, forcing mobile phone operators to compete for experience and depth of products.
The report also touched on the transfer of more than 40 government services already to high -capacity, which reduced internal spending on IT by up to 60%, and reduced the time schedules of projects by two thirds.
The report also indicated that the International Monetary Fund is expected to grow by the GDP of Bahrain by $ 53.14 billion by 2027, as the country’s GDP grows significantly with an increase in information technology investments that will create new growth opportunities for the information and communications technology market in Bahrain.
