The contemplative of our daily reality realizes that volunteer work has become an essential pillar of any society that seeks to advance and cohesion, and not just a side activity or social luxury practiced at free time, and because young people are the hope of tomorrow, they have the most important role in this aspect with their energy capable of converting this work into an influential act, transcending the limits of traditional assistance to reach creativity and the difference in the difference.
The occasion of my speech is the special meeting organized by the Supreme Council for Women, on the occasion of the launch of the fourth edition of the award of Her Highness Sheikha Hasa bint Salman Al Khalifa, volunteer youth work, which was launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the King of the Great Country, President of the Supreme Council for Women in 2010, in commemoration of the role and giving of the late Her Highness Sheikha Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa in supporting the fields of charitable work, voluntary and social institutions In 2011; His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, issued Royal Decree No. (15) for the year 2011, to establish the award.
The award, and over its past three sessions, represented one of the important initiatives in the field of supporting and enhancing the spirit of volunteer work and encouraging young people to be creative and distinguished in the service of society in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to reduce the decline in the involvement of young people with volunteer work, or to limit it to a narrow range that does not reflect the size of their energies and capabilities.
The idea of the award and its philosophy is based on choosing the best achievement for individual or collective voluntary work, in any areas of charitable or social work, and is granted to the best work in both categories, as it aims to contribute to strengthening the fields of volunteer work among Bahraini youth of both sexes, and encouraging them to initiate and creativity.
There is no doubt; The importance of volunteer social work for youth appears with its many results among young people by enhancing national affiliation, developing the capabilities of youth and their scientific and practical personal skills through their participation in the various activities of society and giving them the opportunity to express their opinions and ideas in public issues and express solutions to them.
What distinguishes the award of Her Highness Sheikha Hasa bint Salman Al Khalifa, volunteer youth work, that she came to reflect a firm vision adopted by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, in making the youth a key partner in making the future of the country through volunteer work.
Today, this award, thanks to those in charge of it, has become a national platform that highlights the creations of youth and translates the values of giving and altruism into real projects that benefit society, so the continuation of this initiative establishes Bahrain’s position as an environment in support of volunteer work, and confirms that the bet on the energies of youth is a bet on the present and future of the country.
