Under the patronage of Ahmed bin Salman Al -Muslim, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives will organize, next Tuesday, September 2, a seminar entitled: “Legislative Legislative to achieve sustainable development and carbon neutrality”, within the framework of the initiatives launched by the Council to enhance its legislative and supervisory role in supporting national plans related to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The symposium aims to highlight the pivotal role of national legislation in keeping pace with government efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, implementing international obligations related to lowering carbon emissions and reaching carbon neutrality, in line with the strategic vision of the Kingdom.
A group of experts, researchers and specialists in the fields of the environment, energy and green development will participate in the seminar, where international and regional experiences will be reviewed in this field, and discussed best practices that contribute to the formulation of advanced legislation that supports national trends.
The organization of this event comes in light of the achievements achieved by the House of Representatives in the field of environment and sustainability, as the Council recently obtained the ISO International Certificate in Environmental Administration (ISO 14001), to be one of the first parliaments in the Middle East to obtain this international accreditation. The Council also launched the “Green Parliament” initiative aimed at enhancing sustainable environmental practices within the legislative institution, and consolidating the concept of green development in line with national and parliamentary responsibility.
This institutional movement confirms that the House of Representatives proceeds with a firm pace towards achieving legislative leadership in the areas of sustainable development, and contributing to building a more balanced and sustainable future, reflecting the Kingdom’s firm commitment to the principles of environmental protection and achieving carbon neutrality.
