Dr. Badr Abdel -Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians abroad, made a phone call with Mr. Larsa Rasmussen, Denmark Foreign Minister on Tuesday evening, August 26, to discuss ways to develop bilateral relations and exchange visions on developments in the Gaza Strip.
Relations between Egypt and Denmark
The Foreign Ministry revealed in a statement that Minister Abdel -Ati costs the close relations that bring Egypt and Denmark, which was reflected in high -level mutual visits, led by President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi’s visit to the Kingdom of Denmark in December 2024, which culminated in the promotion of relations to the level of strategic partnership, confirming the aspiration to strengthen all aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including economic and investment relations, and the advancement of the volume of trade exchange And the increase in the enforcement of Egyptian exports to Denmark, expressing appreciation for the role of the Danish companies in advancing the economic development process in Egypt, and looking to expand their activities and investments in the Egyptian market.
The two ministers exchanged views on the dangerous developments taking place in the Gaza Strip, in the light of Denmark assumed the periodic presidency of the European Union and its non-permanent membership in the Security Council 2025-2026, where Minister Abdel-Ati reviewed the proposal for the ceasefire, with which Israel has not responded until now, stressing the need to continue pressure on the Israeli side to achieve a ceasefire and the enforcement of humanitarian aid and relief in the shadow of The humanitarian catastrophe that exacerbates daily and has reached famine.
Minister Abdel -Ati welcomed the announcement of many Western countries its intention to recognize the Palestinian state, expressing the aspiration that Denmark will follow the example of other countries that intend to recognize the Palestinian state, considering this step the real guarantee to achieve security and sustainable stability for all the peoples of the region.
The Foreign Minister also briefed his Danish counterpart on the Egyptian efforts aimed at a ceasefire and the enforcement of aid, stressing the need for European countries to take Denmark to host the informal meeting of the European Union’s foreign ministers, effective practical measures to confront the Israeli arrogance and predecessor, in light of the incapacitating conditions it sets.
Minister Abdel -Ati welcomed Denmark’s decision to continue to finance the UNRWA agency and its supervising position within the European Union and encourage other countries in the European Union to provide support to the agency, expressing the aspiration of Denmark’s involvement effectively in the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza and is scheduled to host Egypt.
