Spiritual and popular atmosphere in the birth of Mit Damis.

The village of Mit Damis, affiliated to the Aga Center in Dakahlia Governorate, is witnessing these days a distinctive atmosphere with the start of the annual birth of St. George, one of the largest birthdays in Egypt, which lasts from 22 to 29 August of each year, and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from different governorates.

The religious character mixes with the popular celebration, where prayers and holidays are held within the monastery, along with the episodes of dhikr and the religious chant of Sufis, while the carnival atmosphere is spread through the hues, children’s games and popular food, to embody the scene the highest images of national unity with the participation of Muslims and Christians alike.

In the context of these celebrations, Major General Tariq Marzouq, Governor of Dakahlia, accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Al -Adl, Deputy Governor, and Major General Nasr Rafqi, Deputy Director of Security, on Tuesday evening, participated in the Copts celebration of the launch of the Romanian Monastery of Margiris and his body’s arrival to the monastery. He was received by His Eminence, St. Marc, Bishop of Shubra Al -Khaimah, and the papal deputy of the monastery, as well as a number of ecclesiastical, executive and security leaders in the governorate.

During his speech, the governor congratulated the Coptic brothers, stressing that Egypt is a unique model of coexistence and love, saying: “The Egyptian family embodies the national spirit and unites every home under the concept of (the house of the family).” He added that religious and national occasions enhance the ties of love and establish the values ​​of belonging to future generations, stressing: “We will not allow sedition or rumors to split the class .. Egypt will remain the house of everyone.”

Marzouq pointed out that the political leadership headed by President Abdel Fattah Al -Sisi is keen to consolidate the values ​​of citizenship and national unity, stressing that Egypt has succeeded in facing challenges thanks to the awareness of its people and its cohesion, adding: “You will not find a church except with a mosque next to it, and you will not find a mosque except with a church, and this is the true spirit of Egypt.”
