Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, today at the government headquarters in the new city of El Alamein, held a meeting to review the implementation of electricity projects in cities that are under the mandate of the New Urban Communities Authority, with the system of participation with the private sector, in the presence of both Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication, Eng. Sherif El -Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Engineer Ahmed Omran, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority, Engineer Ahmed Ali, Assistant Vice -Chairman of the Urban Communities Authority, and Engineer Ater Hanoura, Head of the “Participation with the Private Sector” unit at the Ministry of Finance, and Eng. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, also participated in the meeting, through the technique of “Video Convention”.
Implementing electricity projects in the new cities with the participation system with the private sector
Counselor Mohamed Al -Homsani, the spokesperson for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, said that the meeting discussed the mechanisms of implementing a number of financing, design, construction, exploitation and maintenance of transformer stations and electricity networks in the cities of the New Urban Communities Authority, with technical support from the central unit to participate with the private sector in the Ministry of Finance.
“Al -Homsani” added that the meeting reviewed the measures taken by the Urban Communities Authority to put these projects to alliances in order to submit applications for pre -qualification to enter into competition for the authority’s projects in the electricity sector in its cities.
The spokesperson for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers stated that during the meeting, the implementation of the project of transformer stations will be applied according to the drawings and documents approved by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and under their supervision, while the companies executing the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company will be two contracts, one for operation and maintenance of the station and another contract to supply energy according to the forms prepared by the electricity facility organizing and consumer protection device.
Counselor Mohamed Al -Homsani pointed out that the meeting reviewed a statement of the projects of exploitation, construction and implementation of the electricity transformers stations in the cities affiliated with the New Urban Communities Authority, explaining that it was previously approved to implement 5 transformers stations, in cities: the tenth of Ramadan and New Cairo, and the orders of the support were issued for companies, and 6 exploitation projects were approved by transformers stations in cities: New Mansoura, New Aswan, New October, 6 October, and 5 Projects of construction and implementation of transformers in the cities of October 6, Sheikh Zayed, the new and tenth of Ramadan and October 6.
During the meeting, the importance of the private sector’s participation in the implementation of facilities projects in general was emphasized, as the entry of these projects is accelerated, and the burden of financing is reduced from the public budget, as well as ensuring the quality of management, employment and maintenance.
