Dr. Abla Al -Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with Dr. Hassan Al -Numani, President of Sohag University, to discuss strengthening the university’s role in reducing unnecessary cesarean deliveries and newborn deaths in the governorate, in implementation of the thousand Golden Presidential Initiative, which aims to develop the Egyptian family and improve health indicators for mothers and children.

Dr. Al -Alfi appreciated the fruitful cooperation with the university, thanks to Dr. Al -Numani for his support for the initiative, explaining that an expanded committee has been formed that includes the relevant ministries and universities, to integrate roles and ensure the availability of family planning means for free, especially those long -term.
She pointed to the expansion of midwives training, with the start of the Egyptian Board for Camels for a period of three years in cooperation with the International Council of Nurses, and the introduction of this specialization in the Bachelor’s degree for the first time in Egypt, calling on female students to join it for the distinguished employment opportunities it provides.
For his part, Dr. Al -Numani praised the importance of the initiative in raising health awareness, providing family planning services immediately after birth, and training young people as advisor to their peers and families. He added that the meeting discussed a cooperation protocol contract that focuses on spreading the culture of safe natural birth, reducing complications resulting from cesarean deliveries, improving population characteristics, and raising the efficiency of the premature care units according to the latest global protocols, to improve outputs and reduce death rates.
Al -Numani stressed that the university intensifies its field efforts through its developmental and medical convoys within the “decent life” initiative for the most needy villages, through awareness seminars focused on reproductive health, providing integrated advice, awareness of the population issue and the objectives of the initiative, while pledging to intensify these activities in the framework of cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Dowidar, Director of the Directorate of Health in Sohag, Dr. Magdy El -Qadi, Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Ahmed Kamal, Director of the University Hospital, Dr. Mona Hafez, Director of the Technical Office at the Deputy Minister’s Office, Dr. Ahmed Khairy, Director of Operations and Training at the Office of the Deputy Minister, and Dr. Yasser Jamal, Director General of Follow -up at the National Population Council.
