The Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed shocking details behind the death of a whole family at the Dermawas Center in Minya Governorate, north of Upper Egypt, where the incident raised public opinion after the death of 6 children and their father in a close time, with the emergence of similar pathological symptoms that raised doubts about the presence of a criminal suspicion.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior announced that the investigations of the public security sector in conjunction with the Criminal Investigation Department at the Minya Security Directorate revealed that the second stepmother committed the crime, after it was placed a toxic substance in the bread of food provided for children.
Investigations indicated that the motive behind the crime was the wife’s desire to get rid of her husband’s children and their mother, after the husband returned his ex -wife (the first wife) to his infallibility recently, which raised the doubts of the second wife that she would be replaced.
According to the public prosecutor’s statement, the children have appeared similar symptoms that included vomiting, fever, cramps, and awareness of the level of awareness, before they breathed their last successive, so that their father joined them later after the same symptoms appeared.
The prosecution started the investigation, listened to the testimonies of the victims’ relatives, and a careful examination of the family residence was also conducted. The prosecution decided to delegate the Forensic Medicine Authority to dissect the bodies and withdraw the samples needed for analysis.
The results of the forensic medicine showed that the samples taken from children and their father contain a substance of insecticides, which confirmed the suspicion of intentional poisoning. Accordingly, the Public Prosecution ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to expedite the completion of investigations on the incident to accurately determine the responsibilities, while pledged to announce the results of the investigation as soon as they end.
