The American special envoy to Syria, Thomas Brak, met during his visit to Israel today, Sunday, the Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where the two parties held talks on limiting Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the future of relations with Syria.

According to the Israeli channel 12, Barak held a meeting with Netanyahu, to discuss the request of the administration of US President Donald Trump, to curb the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, in addition to negotiations with Syria.

The channel indicated that Barak also met the Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, who had recently met with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al -Shaibani, and Barak met with Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, as part of his visit.

The normalization of Israel with Lebanon and Syria

The channel quoted Israeli and American sources as saying that the Trump administration is pushing for new security arrangements between Israel and Lebanon, and between Israel and Syria, as a first stage on the path of normalizing relations in the future.

US officials considered, according to the channel, that the continuation of the Israeli war on Gaza imposes on Israel a clear interest in calming the situation on its borders with Lebanon and Syria and reaching new understandings with the two countries.

Earlier, the Trump administration asked Israel to respond to the approval of the Lebanese government on plans to disarm Hezbollah by limiting its military operations in Lebanon, and gradually withdrawing its forces from the sites that still control it in the south, according to the Israeli channel.
