Rio Ferdinand, the legend of Manchester United and the former England team, decided to move to live in Dubai with his family, after many years he spent inside the stadiums and then in front of the cameras as a sports analyst in the “TNT Sports” network.
Why did Rio Ferdinand moved to Dubai?
Ferdinand explained that his desire to stay away from the daily pressures associated with matches, whether as a player or an analyst, prompted him to take this step. He added that more than 30 years spent in the football atmosphere made him search for a new chapter away from pressure, while giving his family a quieter and stable environment.
Family life and education at the top priority
The former English defender confirmed that the factors that encouraged him to move included security, quality of life, the ideal weather and new opportunities, as well as providing an appropriate educational environment for his children. He explained that he visited the schools in Dubai and found them suitable for the ages of his children and meet his educational aspirations. He also stressed that his son Lorenz signing his first professional contract with Brighton will not change the family’s plans to settle in the Emirates.
Globe Soccer’s visit changed his outlook
Ferdinand indicated that his recent visit to Dubai during the Globe Soccer Awards was a turning point in his decision, during which he got acquainted with new aspects of the city thanks to meetings that brought him together with friends close to his wife Kate. Its commercial project “Football Escapes” in Dubai made it more convinced of the move.
Is he away from football permanently?
Despite his departure from TV work after a full decade, Ferdinand explained that he will not completely separate from football, stressing that he will continue his association with the game through his media and commercial projects, with a greater time allocating his personal life and his family during the next stage.
