The archaeological researcher, Tamer Al -Minshawi, said that the sunken artifacts that were recently extracted from the Abu Qir Maritime area in Alexandria were transferred to the Greek Roman theater, in a move aimed at protecting and preparing them for the stage of scientific restoration.
Al -Minshawi explained to Cairo 24, that the cutting, including the statue of the Sphinx, which carries the cartridge of King Ramses II, was placed inside the basins intended to dry the salinity and ensure that it is preserved from any environmental effects after its stay for thousands of years in the depths of the sea.
This development comes after the announcement of the success of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Mission in cooperation with divers specialized in recovering a group of artifacts sunken from the port of Abu Qir Bahri, which is the event that received global attention as it reveals a new aspect of the immersed history of Alexandria.
Al -Minshawi stressed that the process of transportation and restoration represents a pivotal stage in the journey of returning these treasures to life, in preparation for its presentation to the public in museums and archaeological exhibitions, which reflects the greatness of the ancient Egyptian civilization and its communication with the civilizations of the sea.
