The Nigerian Anti -Corruption Agency announced the deportation of 50 Chinese citizens and one Tunisian citizen after being convicted of online terrorism and online fraud, as part of a broad security campaign targeting electronic crime networks that are believed to be supported by foreign authorities.
According to Reuters, Daily Euyali, a spokesman for the Economic and Financial Crime Committee (EFCC), said that the campaign launched on August 15 in cooperation with the Nigerian Immigration Department has so far resulted in the deportation of 102 people, out of about 200 foreigners who were arrested during security raids in the commercial capital of Lagos.
Owali added that the raids targeted one of the largest electronic fraud gangs in the country, which are suspected of using false romantic offers to lure the victims, then pushed them to deliver their money in exchange for fake investments in encrypted currencies.
These measures come within the framework of Nigeria’s continuous efforts to combat cross -border electronic crimes, which have become an increasing threat to digital and economic security in the country.
