When the royal directives were issued by His Majesty the Great King, may God protect and preserve him, the meaning was greater than just a new law, it was a message that man was the most expensive wealth, and that the state is determined to protect lives before anything else, as the esteemed government, headed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, rushed to translate these directives in practice, by amending some provisions of the Traffic Law and tightening the penalties, an important step, but necessary to say to the reckless; It stops, human life is not bought.
But let me ask an important question; Are the laws sufficient alone to control the street and preserve lives and property?
personally; Through my follow -up to the development of the traffic law during my work in the press for more than two decades, I can say that the law is deterring and the punishment is frightened, but whoever leads a crazy speed knows the right to know that it is a violation, he does not do this because he is ignorant of the law but because it underestimates the lives of others, and whoever insists on using his phone while driving is completely aware of the danger, but he ventures as if the souls do not mean anything to him.
The issue in its essence is not only legal texts, but awareness, culture and daily behavior; The driver, whose speed reduces respect for pedestrians, pedestrians who adhere to the transit lines, and a society that sees in traffic discipline a civilized value, these are the true wall that protects lives.
Man is the most precious possession of homelands, and the laws are developed to protect him, but they will remain helpless if we do not have a culture of respecting life, we must understand that the road is not the property of an individual, but rather a space for everyone, and that one minute of recklessness may mean a full life that takes away from an entire family.
In the end, the clearest truth remains: the laws alone do not stop the bleeding of accidents, but it is stopped by the awareness of the citizen and the resident, the ethics of the street, and our commitment to all that the souls are more expensive than any urgency or recklessness.
