Representative Ahmed Sabah Al -Salloum, Chairman of the Finance and Economic Committee in the House of Representatives, praised the decree of Law No. (30) of 2025 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the monarch of the country, may God protect and preserve him, regarding amending some of the provisions of the Traffic Law, stressing that the amendments represent a qualitative shift in traffic legislation and come in response to an urgent societal need.
Al -Salloum said that the amendments cover serious traffic behaviors that annually cause severe accidents, such as bypassing red signals, driving under the influence of the drug or intoxicating, excessive speed, and reckless leadership, pointing out that the increase in sanctions and the expansion of the powers of security men and the public prosecutor reflects the state’s keenness to protect lives and property and ensure the discipline of traffic.
He added: “These amendments are not only aimed at deterrence, but also to create a comprehensive traffic awareness, so that the driver realizes that any recklessness or recklessness will be his shameful consequences for his present and future.”
He pointed out that the legislator took into account the gradual penalties between the fine, imprisonment, and the confiscation of the vehicle in some cases, as well as tightening the punishment when repeating or if the violation resulted in injuries or deaths, which constitutes a deterrent and integrated system that addresses previous loopholes in the law.
The Chairman of the Finance and Economic Committee emphasized that the decree of the new law is consistent with Bahrain’s vision in replacing modern traffic safety standards and providing a safe environment for road users, indicating that this will contribute to reducing traffic accidents and the resulting human and economic losses.
Al -Salloum concluded his statement by saying: “We in the House of Representatives will work with the esteemed government to support these amendments with societal awareness and educational initiatives. Commitment to traffic regulations is a common national responsibility between the state and the citizen.”
