Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture, stressed that the state’s interest in local manufacturing and the increase in the percentage of the local component was positively reflected in multiple sectors, including the complementary industries of agriculture, explaining that these steps contributed to supporting small and medium enterprises and reducing the cost on investors.
Farouk: Egypt has succeeded in recent years in introducing new crops
The minister added during televised statements, that many young people have begun to exploit agricultural waste through homemade machines, and turn them into promising projects in the production of “biogas” and organic fertilizers, which contributes to providing alternative energy sources and reducing dependence on chemicals, in line with the requirements of the European Union by 2030.
Farouk pointed out that Egypt has succeeded in recent years in introducing new crops such as Jack Froot, Al -Bishun, and the Dragon Froot, thanks to technological development and the efforts of agricultural research centers, pointing out that these crops are already grown in desert areas and achieve large economic returns, as well as their contribution to increasing Egyptian exports.
The Minister stressed that Egypt has become an important source of healthy and safe food for a number of countries facing climate challenges and a lack of water resources, stressing that the infrastructure provided by the state from roads, ports and sidewalks has strengthened the competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural products in global markets.
Farouk concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the current vision aims to enhance productivity, and to encourage the use of natural transactions and fungi -resistant diseases as a substitute for pesticides, to keep pace with the global trend towards natural agriculture and protect human health.
