In recent days, the Israel Tax Authority has warned of a new electronic construction campaign that has its name, as users receive threatened email messages that claim to open a dangerous criminal investigation or an official investigation, and includes a link leading to fake forms or malicious software aimed at stealing personal data.
Hackers operations sparked controversy in Israel
According to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the authority explained that these messages were not issued by them, and called on its citizens to refrain from pressing the attached links or entering any data, stressing the need to enter its services exclusively through the official website.
According to the warning, the pirates are trying to persuade the victims to open the link to enter their details in a form designated for theft of information, or to download software that may later be used in harmful activities, the authority also warned that official authorities’ messages rarely include direct links requesting the recipient to enter introductory data or payment information.
This comes in light of the increasing fraudulent campaigns in Israel in recent months, the most prominent of which are short text messages that are the identity of the company “כביש 6” and calls on users to pay fines under the threat to open files in the implementation departments.
Experts in Israel stressed the need to deal with caution with any requests for payment or update data received via e -mail or text messages, and it is preferable to enter directly to the official website of the relevant authority by searching in search engines, instead of pressing links that may be forged.
