Amr Moussa, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, welcomed the nomination and approach of Ambassador Nabil Fahmy, the former Foreign Minister, to take over the position of the Secretary -General next to the Arab League.
Amr Moussa explained in statements to Cairo 24: I read news about the nomination of Ambassador Nabil Fahmy, the former foreign minister and happy with him, and I wish him success, and the choice of Nabil Fahmy is very valuable.
Earlier, an Arab diplomatic source revealed the scenes of the next Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, succeeding the current Secretary -General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, whose term ends next year.
The source explained to Cairo 24, that there is an initial consensus on Ambassador Nabil Fahmy, former Egyptian Foreign Minister, to occupy the position of next Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, a candidate by Cairo.

On the Arab level, also an Arab diplomatic source explained that the former Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy will be the next Secretary -General of the Arab League to succeed Ahmed Aboul Gheit, whose term ends in June 2026.
The Arab diplomat added that Fahmy, who held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs in Egypt from June 2013 to July 2014, and also worked as an ambassador for Cairo in Washington from 1999 to 2008, is expected to serve as Secretary -General of the Arab League to succeed the current Secretary -General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
