The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones hosted an expanded meeting that included investors of Egyptian public free zones, to discuss the preparation of joint plans to develop and improve work mechanisms in regions for the effective contribution to achieving the targets of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade Plan “Investment for Export”.
The meeting comes after the approval of the Ministerial Group for Industrial Development, headed by the team, the engineer, the entire minister, the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, on the authority’s plan to establish 4 new public free zones in the tenth of Ramadan, New October and New Arab Burj Al -Jadida and New Alamein, after the occupancy rate in nine current free areas reached 95%.
The production of the new public free zones will be fully directed to export
Hossam Haiba said that the production of the new public free zones will be fully directed to export, for several reasons, the most important of which is the achievement of the target of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade by achieving $ 140 billion exports by 2030, the lack of crowding out of internal investment institutions in the local market, the application of the principles of fair investment, the achievement of the maximum benefit from investment stimulation policies, the focus of green transformation and environmental commitment in the exporting sectors, and guarantee The success of strategies to target foreign markets with Egyptian products.
The CEO of the Authority announced that the new free zones are expected to start work at the end of 2026, noting that the authority will work with the New Urban Communities Authority to accelerate the processing of these areas to confront the tremendous demand for industrial investment, and the activation of 3 other free free zones is being discussed, so that the number of public free zones doubles to 16 areas, after the success of this system in achieving sustainable growth in Egyptian exports.
The CEO of the authority agreed with the attendees to form a working group of representatives of all industrial sectors to develop the mechanisms of public free zones, and to propose ways to achieve the desired targets
