The writer Amira Al -Hassan said that Bahrain realized early that controlling its cyber space is not an option, but rather a necessity to protect its national data and preserve its digital security, noting that the Kingdom launched national strategies for cybersecurity, supported by modern legislation that keeps pace with international standards, which strengthened Bahrain’s position as a regional center in the field of cybersecurity.

Amira Al -Hassan explained that “at a time when digital transformations accelerate, and the lines of politics, economics and security are intertwined, in an invisible space, digital sovereignty has emerged as one of the most important pillars of the national security of the modern state. It means the state’s ability to protect its cyberspace space, control the flow of its data, and ensure the independence of its technical decision away from any external influence.

She added: “The Kingdom invested in building an advanced digital infrastructure, and launched national cybersecurity strategies, supported by modern legislation that accompanies international standards for data protection and its governance, and has also strengthened the capabilities of its specialized devices and its preparation with the latest technologies to monitor and address the threats, before turning into risks.”

She continued: «Bahrain was not satisfied with defense only, but also developed national electronic platforms and services that reduce dependence on the outside, and provide a safe environment for institutions and individuals, as it worked to prepare qualified national cadres in the fields of digital security, technical engineering through training programs and strategic partnerships with major international institutions.

And she added, “This trend has strengthened Bahrain’s position as a regional center in the field of cybersecurity, and established its ability to protect its digital space, and make it a model in the balance between openness to the world and the preservation of the independence of the national decision. In an era in which the battles are decided by software symbols as much as it is decided by armies, Bahrain has proven that its strength extends to where the borders are not seen, and that its digital sovereignty is an integral part of its comprehensive sovereignty.
